Privacy Policy

We work hard to keep all our legal mumbo jumbo as simple as possible, but we still have to have it.


Effective 2020

The Privacy Policy explains how Reviewside Limited manages personal data in conjunction with online panel groups, surveys, incentive systems, websites, and mobile apps (collectively, the "Service"). It explains, in particular, the types of Personal Data that we collect in connexion with the Service, the reasons for which we collect that Personal Data, the other parties with whom we may share it, and the steps that we take to protect data protection. It also tells you about your personal data rights and preferences and how you can contact us to change your contact information or ask questions about our privacy policies.

This Privacy Policy does not extend in the case of surveys conducted by third parties to the collection of your personal data. For more information on the privacy policies of that sponsor, please refer to the specific sponsor's Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions control registration, use, and access to the Service.

1. Possible personal data that may be collected about you

We collect Personal Data in different ways explained below. For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, “ Personal Data ” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual. Where appropriate, we will indicate whether and why you are needed to provide us with your Personal Data, as well as the implications of not doing so. If on request, you do not have Personal Details, you will not be able to profit from the Service if that information is essential to deliver the Service to you or if we are legally required to collect it.

a. Personal data that you are required to provide
  • When you register for an account through our websites or mobile apps, we ask you to provide some Personal Details including your name, address, email address, telephone number, date of birth, occupation, education, and gender.
  • In addition, we collect your Personal Data when you engage in a survey or in connexion with earning and redeeming offers and rewards. Such information includes a unique panelist/respondent ID number that we allocate to you when you sign up for an account and the answers that you give when you complete the survey. In this context, you may want to include confidential Personal Data about you, such as Personal Data that discloses or exposes health and medical conditions, marital or marital preferences, political opinions/views, race / ethnic origin, religious and philosophical beliefs, and membership of the labor union. We obtain your express consent to the processing of your confidential Personal Data, as necessary by law. We can also collect content, such as images and videos, which you send, upload, or share while using the Service.
b. Location Data
  • We can request your permission to use your mobile device to obtain location information. We could use your location information to give you the opportunity to participate in location-based surveys and market research, or share such location data with third-party clients to demonstrate certain participants' location traffic patterns, including, but not limited to, buying behavior based on locations visited.
  • With your permission, we shall collect your location information for the purposes set out above. If you no longer wish to share your details about the geo-location with us, please update your device's privacy settings. We obtain your express consent to share your details about your position with third parties where allowed by law.
c. Social Media Accounts
  • You will also be able to access the Services through social media channels operated by third parties. If you want to access the Services this way, we may collect some profile information stored in your account on your social media sites, such as name, gender, and email address.
d. Personal Data Obtained Via Automated Means
  • We can collect certain information when you use the Service through automatic means, such as cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are tiny files in which some data are stored on a computer. Cookies generate a unique ID that is connected to your account. Session cookies expire when you close your browser, while persistent cookies stay on your computer until they are removed or arrive at fixed expiry date.
  • The information we collect via cookies and similar technologies may include information about your device and its capabilities, including, the device type and operating system, other applications on your device, network and Internet service provider, time zone, network status, browser type, referring/exiting pages, operating system, date/time stamp, clickstream data, and unique identification numbers such as your device IP address, device unique identification number, Media Access Control (MAC) address, or browser identifier. We may also use digital fingerprinting and watermarking technologies to collect the above information.
  • If you grant us access to these, we may also collect information from certain applications and functionality available on your device. Such information includes the number and type of installed applications, push notifications, camera, microphone, photo library access, and access to file storage. We use this information to enhance the Service by determining how many users use or use the Service, which content, products and functionality of our Service are of greatest interest to our guests, what types of deals our customers want to see and how our Service performs from a technological point of view.
  • In some situations, for the purposes defined in this Privacy Policy, we may use information collected by automated means, along with other information, to identify users (or households) through platforms or devices such as smartphones, computers, tablets, or related browsers. Information gathered by digital fingerprinting and watermarking technologies can also be used for quality control, validation, and for detection and prevention of fraud.
  • The new EU Cookie Law means that we need to be clear about the cookies we use, and also ask for your permission to use cookies. Cookies used on this platform are allowed by default as it offers the best experience for users.
  • Important cookies: These cookies are essential in order to allow you to visit the site and to choose your preferences, these are strictly required cookies, PHPSESSID and SESSION cookies are necessary in order to keep in mind the preferences you have selected.
  • Google Analytics: To track visits to our site, we use Google Analytics to set up a number of cookies for this purpose as well. Google Analytics is really important to us as it informs us which pages perform well and how our entire marketing works. Like many services, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track visitor interactions. These cookies are used to store information, such as what time the current visit occurred, whether the visitor has been to the site before, and what site referred the visitor to the web page, utma - This cookie identifies unique visitors, utmb - This measures the time you spend in any one visit, utmc - This is part of session measurement; the cookie expires as the session ends, utmv - Used to track which web pages, etc you visit, utmz - Records how you found our site i.e. directly by name, via a link, or by a search engine. e. Personal Data We Process in relation to Survey about Clients’ Advertising
  • Using the Service to engage in surveys of unique advertising and promotions that Reviewside is testing for its business customers, you can see these advertisements or promotions in several locations, including non-Reviewside mobile apps (e.g., gaming). Once you have been exposed to the relevant ads and promotions, Reviewside will provide you with access to, or contact you to complete, a survey about these ads or promotions and/or may provide certain demographic data about you to the advertiser or the advertiser's agent regarding the demographic profiles of individuals who have viewed the ad.
  • Reviewside has collaborated with advertising companies that supply, monitor, or promote advertising, including in other mobile applications, to encourage the completion of such surveys on advertisements or promotions. The Application / Services offers the UID, the unique user identifier, and other information obtained by automated means to the ad networks. The ad company will then use your unique user identifier or other automatically collected information to identify your smartphone while you are using a mobile app that has partnered with one of the advertising companies. The ad company will then send you an ad or promotion which is calculated by Reviewside for one of our business clients. The ad company can then tell Reviewside that your UID-related system has just received an ad or promotion that enables Reviewside to provide you with access to an ad or promotional survey or to contact you to complete it.
f. Personal Data Provided by Third Parties
  • We can obtain from third parties personal data, behavioral and/or demographic information such as data management systems, ad networks, information service offices, and sample providers. This set can include, but not limited to, age, gender, geography, location, children's presence, mobile ad IDs, history of sales, advertisement exposures, look-a-like segments.
2. HOW WE MAY USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

The personal data we obtain from or about you can be used for a number of purposes including:

  • To provide you with the opportunity to engage in research activities, including joining a panel, engaging in surveys conducted by Reviewside or third parties (whether as a panel member or non-panel member), or using panel-related websites and mobile apps.
  • Conducting, handling, executing, encouraging the entry and correspondence of Reviewside prizes, incentive programs, and other promotions, including sweepstakes offered in conjunction with membership of the panel and/or survey completion.
  • To interact with you with a panel owned by Reviewside about your membership, or to give you reminders of your participation in a survey and personalized survey opportunities.
  • To allow for the showing of ads outside the Service for the purposes of promoting the completion of the recall surveys.
  • To provide you with services and advertising personalized to you on the basis of parameters such as your preferences or location information and to allow Reviewside and third parties to build marketing insights, audience/look models based on individual and/or aggregated profile data and segment audiences. For example, we might be designing marketing and advertisement strategies to target individuals with a similar social and demographic profile to yours.
  • To assess the efficacy of online ads and evaluation of website audiences and to assist in the design, production, and implementation of websites, online ads, and other Internet and digital media features, functionality, and campaigns.
  • Sending personalized marketing communications about Reviewside and the products and services of third parties.
  • Updating Reviewside records, conducting data analyses for Reviewside purposes, or for our clients.
  • To have improved survey experience, including quality control, confirmation, monitoring of surveys completed, or other acts performed.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and the identification and prevention of fraud
  • To meet our legal obligations, including tax obligations without restriction, or to uphold or otherwise protect our rights;
  • As otherwise permitted under this Privacy Policy or as otherwise permitted by you If you are in the European Economic Area we can collect and use your Personal Data when:
  • You agree to the use of your Personal Information. For example, we could seek your permission for our use of cookies or similar technologies, for sending you marketing emails, or for processing, Personal Data deemed sensitive under applicable law.
  • To provide goods and services to you, or to respond to your inquiries.
  • We are allowed or approved to use your Personal Data according to applicable law.
  • We, or a third party, have a valid interest in using your Personal Data, such as maintaining and enhancing the reliability, security, and efficiency of our goods and services, anonymizing Personal Data, and performing data analyses.
3. HOW WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

The personal data we collect about you may be disclosed as listed below or otherwise disclosed to you at the time the data is collected, including with:

  • For the purposes defined in this Privacy Policy our parent, subsidiary, and affiliates.
  • Our service providers who perform services and process Personal Data on our behalf. Examples of our service providers include our cloud storage providers, fraud tool providers, survey data collection platform. We may also share Personal Data with data brokers and data aggregators acting under our instructions and on our behalf to add to enrich our database for the development of audience insights and/or look-alike models, analytics, and marketing intelligence. We require these service providers by contract to only process Personal Data in accordance with our instructions and as necessary to perform services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements. We also require them to have safeguards designed to protect the security and confidentiality of the Personal Data they process on our behalf.
  • Program partners who invited you to join the Service and that you have enrolled through.
  • Our clients for market research-related purposes (including for the creation and validation of models, fraud detection and prevention, data market segmentation and database matching, and reward, incentive, or sweepstakes redemption, fulfillment and/or entry), to enable them to develop marketing campaigns, audience insights, look-alike models and/or to market third party’s products/services to you, and for the purposes of identifying respondents for re-contact surveys or communications.
  • Our client or their customers, if we believe that you have or may violate the intellectual property rights of a third party or our Terms and conditions .
  • With a third party in connexion with any reorganization, merger, acquisition, joint venture, assignment, transition, or other disposition of all or any portion of our company, assets, or stocks (including any insolvency or related proceedings).

As otherwise permitted pursuant to this Policy or (i) if we are required to disclose Personal Data about you by law or legal process, (ii) in response to a request from a court, law enforcement authorities, or government officials, or (iii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss, or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraudulent or illegal activity.

We can allow you to collect Personal Data directly from a client. You are free to send your Personal Data to them. In such cases, we enter into a written agreement with our clients to restrict their use of the Personal Data, among other items.

4. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

You will have the right to: Subject to applicable law

  • When we deliver the Service, opt out of such collections and use of your Personal Data. Please log in to your account for more detail, and change your preferences.
  • Opt out of the collection and use of certain information, which we collect about you by automated means. In certain jurisdictions, you can exercise your choice regarding the use of cookies and similar technologies via the Cookie Consent tool. Your browser may tell you how to be notified of and opt-out of having certain types of cookies placed on your device. Note that without certain cookies you may not be able to use all of the features of our websites, apps, or online services.
  • Request access to and receive information about the Personal Data we maintain about you, to update and correct inaccuracies in your Personal Data, to restrict or to object to the processing of your Personal Data, to have the information anonymized or deleted, as appropriate, or to exercise your right to data portability to easily transfer information to another company. In addition, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, including in your country of residence, place of work, or where an incident took place.
  • Remove your prior consent to the processing of your Personal Data, at any time and free of charge. We will continue to enforce your preferences, and this will not affect the validity of the application prior to the withdrawal of your consent.

Those rights may be limited in some circumstances by local law requirements.

You can stop all collection of Personal Data and other information by us by uninstalling the Services or terminating your participation in all panels. You may use the standard uninstall processes available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network or you may cancel your panelist account on the panel site. Please note that if you delete the mobile application, but maintain a profile with one of our websites, we may still collect Personal Data and other data from you through our websites.

Uninstalling the mobile application will not delete all information collected by us prior to uninstalling the Services. To delete all information collected by us please contact us as set forth below. If you would like to exercise your rights described above or terminate your account, please contact us as specified in the “How to Contact Us” section below.

5. DATA SECURITY AND DATA RETENTION

We maintain appropriate technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect Personal Data and other information disclosed or collected by us against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use. We review, monitor, and evaluate our privacy practices and protection systems on a regular basis. Despite the safeguards we implement, transmissions over the Internet or a mobile network are not totally secure, and therefore we cannot guarantee the security of online transmissions. We are not responsible for any errors by individuals in submitting Personal Data to us.

We also take measures to delete your Personal Data or keep it in a form that does not permit identifying you when this information is no longer necessary for the purposes for which we process it unless we are required by law to keep this information for a longer period. When determining the retention period, we take into account various criteria, such as the type of products and services requested by or provided to you, the nature and length of our relationship with you, possible re-enrolment with our products or services, the impact on the services we provide to you if we delete some information from or about you, mandatory retention periods provided by law and the statute of limitations.

6. DATA TRANSFERS

Your Personal Data may be transferred to recipients in countries other than the country where you are located. These countries may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information. When we transfer your Personal Data to other countries, we will protect that information as described in this Privacy Policy or as disclosed to you at the time of the collection.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we fulfill applicable legal requirements which include adequate safeguards for the transfer of personal data to third countries.

7. DO NOT TRACK

Do Not Track (“DNT”) is a preference in your browser that you can set to notify websites that you visit that you do not want the websites to collect certain information about you. Reviewside does not respond to DNT signals. If you object to Reviewside’s practice with regards to DNT signals, you may opt-out from participation or use of Reviewside’s services as described below.

In connection with Reviewside’s online ad effectiveness program, Reviewside permits Reviewside’s subcontractors, partners, and/or clients to drop, set, and/or write third party technologies for the purpose of facilitating audience measurement and ad recall survey activities. Reviewside is not responsible for any third party’s compliance with or response to DNT signals.

8. NO CHILDREN

The Service is not intended for or intended for use by any person under the age of 16 We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of 16, and if we become aware that we have unintentionally collected Personal Data from a child under the age of 16, we will make appropriate commercial efforts to remove such Personal Data.

9. UPDATES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

This Global Privacy Notice may be regularly updated to reflect improvements to our Personal Data practices. We will post a prominent notice on related websites to alert you of any major updates to our Global Privacy Notice and state when it was most recently updated at the top of the List. If we update our Global Privacy Notice we will be seeking your permission in some circumstances.
